Mozarts 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik'

Mozart's 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik'

As soon as you have heard the first few seconds of Mozart’s famous serenade you will recognize it. With its distinctive melody, this piece has almost become a synonym for classical music. Mozart composed his masterpiece in 1787 in the same period as the legendary opera ‘Don Giovanni’. While the opera is dramatic and sensational, 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' is relaxing and peaceful. Only in 1827, long after Mozart’s death, 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' was published and has never left the concert programmes since.

Schumann, Brahms and Piazzolla

Anna Fedorova adores 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik'. She gives this masterpiece a personal touch by adding different pieces that have common ground with Mozart’s music between the movements. The pleasant pieces of Schumann and Brahms, for example, match perfectly with Mozart’s ‘Romanze’ and the two Piazzolla tangos are as dynamic as the ‘Menuetto’ of 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik'. In Mozart’s serenade the strings steal the show, while in the music of Schumann, Brahms, Prokofjev and Piazzolla the oboe, clarinet and bandoneon are getting the attention.
