Seldom Sene about the Goldberg Variations:
"It's a real masterpiece. We notice that the music really touches people during our concerts", says María. About why, Hester says: "All kinds of feelings come through in the music. I think everyone can imagine something with his music, that's why it's also one of Bach's most played compositions"

Famous story
The play owes its name to a famous story. Bach would have written it at the request of a certain Johann Gottlieb Goldberg. This Goldberg was the harpsichordist of a Russian ambassador suffering from insomnia. The only thing this diplomat could relax at night was music and so the 'Goldberg Variations' came into being. As beautiful as the story may be, Bach's 'Goldberg Variations' are certainly not soporific. The piece became world famous thanks to phenomenal pianists such as Glenn Gould and Murray Perahia. In the Edesche Concert Hall Seldom Sene plays this piece in a special version for recorder quintet.
