Liza Ferschtman (violin) and Roman Rabinovich (piano) - Beethoven, Shostakovich, Bartók

Vioolsonate nr. 3 in Es, op. 12, nr. 3
Roman Rabinovich (piano) Liza Ferschtman (viool)
  • I. Allegro con spirito
  • II. Adagio con molt' espressione
  • III. Rondo. Allegro molto
Beethoven didn't like conventions. In this Sonata for piano and violin he throws overboard the principle that the violin should accompany the piano. Violin and piano are equal partners, giving space to one and then the other
Vioolsonate nr. 1, Sz.75, BB.84
Roman Rabinovich (piano) Liza Ferschtman (piano)
  • I. Allegro appassionato
  • II. Adagio
  • III. Allegro
Liza Ferschtman talks about Bartók's 'First Violin Sonata': "The piece starts as a kind of thin dream. The slow middle section sounds like 'night music' with special sound effects. The Finale looks like a runaway folk dance full of rousing rhythms."

Roman Rabinovich (piano) Liza Ferschtman (viool)
  • I. Allegro moderato
  • II. Adagio espressivo

Although Beethoven wrote a lot of music for his own use, he composed his Tenth Violin Sonata, and thus last, for his piano pupil Archduke Rudolf and violinist Pierre Rode. Partly because of its tranquillity and supernatural beauty, the piece belongs to Beethoven's most beautiful violin sonatas.

They are called a royal couple, violinist Liza Ferschtman and pianist Roman Rabinovich. No wonder, because Liza Ferschtman is one of today's most beloved violinists. About what makes her playing so special, de Volkskrant tells: "Ferschtman started playing, soft and conjuring, with a tone that forces you to go along with the violin line" Experience this for yourself in the Edesche Concert Hall, with Beethoven's 'Third Violin Sonata' and Bartók's 'First Violin Sonata', which is steeped in folk music
