Eerste kennismaking: Regers dertig Kleine Koraalvoorspelen zijn de negentiende-eeuwse variant van Bachs beroemde Orgelbüchlein. Net als Bach selecteerde hij de meest geliefde koraalmelodieën van zijn tijd en maakte er prachtige miniatuurtjes van. Hiermee toonde Reger zich naast componist van monumentale orgelwerken ook een meester van het kleine gebaar.

First introduction: Regers thirty Small Coral Preludes are the nineteenth-century variant of Bach's famous Orgelbüchlein. Like Bach, he selected the most beloved choral melodies of his time and turned them into beautiful miniatures. In this way Reger showed himself to be a composer of monumental organ works as well as a master of small gestures
