Abdel Rahman El Bacha - Piano Classics of Chopin - World Pianists

Pianosonate in F, KV 332
Abdel Rahman El Bacha
  • I. Allegro
  • II. Adagio
  • III. Allegro assai
Abrupt changes of atmosphere, capricious rhythms and hurried tempi - you would not expect it from Mozart's piano sonatas, which are usually perfectly balanced. This sonata proves otherwise. Especially the finale is a real tour de force for the pianist
Pianosonate in f, op. 53, 'Appassionata'
Abdel Rahman El Bacha
  • I. Allegro assai
  • II. Andante con moto
  • III. Allegro ma non troppo - Presto
Mozart's Sonata in F, KV 332 and Beethoven's Sonata Appassionata are two sides of the same coin. What Mozart set in motion in his sonata, Beethoven seems to magnify here to the extreme. No wonder that contemporaries soon gave the piece the nickname 'appassionata': the passionate. Beethoven alternates stormy passages with pure poetry

Like a chain of all sorts of crystals strung together. This is how you can listen to Chopin's series of 24 Preludes. Each prelude is a completed whole, but has its own atmosphere and place in the whole. Chopin, like Bach with his Well-Tempered Clavier, achieved a special coherence between the pieces through the alternation of the different major and minor keys
