With Beethoven's Piano Trio in E-flat you listen to Beethoven's official composition. Everything that makes Beethoven a Beethoven can already be heard in it. It is music full of drama and virtuosity. At the same time, it is full of beautiful melodies and Beethoven plays a witty game with the listener's expectations.

  • II. Variation 1
  • III. Variation 2
  • IV. Variation 3
  • V. Variation 4
  • VI. Variation 5
  • VII. Variation 6

'In limitation shows the master,' Beethoven must have thought, when he began his 'Variations,' op. 44. Just listen to the theme, with which the piece starts. What can we make of it? Beethoven shows that he can create a blood-curdling piece from even the seemingly least interesting material.
PAUZE
Pianotrio in Es, op. 65, 'Dumky-trio'
Busch Trio
  • I. Lento maestoso - Allegro quasi doppio movimento
  • II. Poco Adagio - Vivace non troppo
  • III. Andante - Vivace non troppo
  • IV. Andante moderato - Allegretto scherzando
  • V. Allegro - Meno mosso
  • VI. Lento maestoso - Vivace
"This piano trio places Dvorák alongside the greatest contemporary masters," wrote Viennese music critic Eduard Hanslick, influential in his day. One might call Dvorák's Third Piano Trio one of his most internationally oriented pieces, written in the vein of Dvorák's teacher Johannes Brahms. Yet folklore is not entirely absent. Both the second movement and the "Finale" teem with upbeat Czech dance rhythms.

With the Busch Trio you will make a real time travel. Pianist Omri Epstein, violinist Mathieu van Bellen and cellist Ori Epstein are fascinated by the musical culture of the first half of the twentieth century. In order to come close to the sound of that time, they have turned many old recordings gray and play their performances on gut strings. Moreover, Mathieu van Bellen plays a Guadagnini violin (1783) that was once owned by the legendary violinist Adolf Busch. Listen to piano trios by Beethoven and the famous 'Dumky trio' by Antonín Dvorák
