With this Christmas concert by the Apollo Ensemble, the Christmas festivities can truly begin. The Christmas story of the baby Jesus in a manger, the angels, the shepherds with the sheep and the three kings paints a
moving picture that produced magnificent music throughout the centuries. The Apollo Ensemble delves into the heyday of German vocal baroque music from the period just before Bach. Cantatas and motets by Dietrich Buxtehude, Heinrich Schütz, Michael Praetorius and Matthias Weckmann are alternated with festive instrumental music. And, of course, you may sing along with some famous German Christmas carols
