Telemann's Passion: Seliges Erwägen des bitteren Leydens und Sterbens Jesu Christi
Saturday 14 March 2026, 20:00
Georg Philipp Telemann wrote no less than forty passions and seven passion oratorios. After Telemann's dramatic Brockes-Passion, the Apollo Ensemble now ventures into his passion oratorio Seliges Erwägen des bitteren Leydens und Sterbens Jesu Christi. Unlike, for example, in Bach's St. Matthew Passion, Telemann wrote the sung text himself. As the scion of a preacher's family, he was well entrusted to do so. Using nine reflections, he takes you through the Passion with the most moving music. As always, the Apollo Ensemble will provide an impressive performance during the Passion period.
