Christmas with Bach - Ton Koopman and Tini Mathot - Harpsichord and organ

Music of the Bach family

The couple Ton Koopman and Tini Mathot play an atmospheric recital with, among others, Christmas classics from the family circle of Johann Sebastian Bach. These include the famous chorale arrangement 'Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland' by father Bach, the Concert for two harpsichords by son Wilhelm Friedemann and a Fantasy by his brother Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.

Music for two harpsichords

Only for this concert Ton Koopman and Tini Mathot can be heard with two harpsichords in the Edesche Concert Hall. The transcription of Bach's famous Preludium and Fugue in F, BWV 547, by both harpsichordists is extra special. He originally composed it for organ, but that this also sounds excellent on two harpsichords, Ton Koopman and Tini Mathot will be happy to prove this to you. Of course organist Ton Koopman can't resist playing the Ypma-organ of the Edesche Concertzaal. To this he plays the chorale arrangement 'Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern' by Dietrich Buxtehude, a composer whom Bach greatly admired, and a Noël by Louis-Claude Daquin, a French contemporary of Bach
