Emanuel Ax
Catchy, honest, thoroughly musical and authentic; these are just a few key words in the press that describe Emanuel Ax's playing. Experience this golden master pianist in music that is very close to his heart. Earlier NRC Handelsblad wrote about him: "He approaches the music from an all-encompassing gentleness. He loves every note he plays. His instrumental baggage and his exceptional musical drive make him the Rolls-Royce among pianists: strong and dynamic, shiny and subtle, able to cross even the most inhospitable musical landscapes with royal suppleness"
Emanuel Ax: "I'm on yoga to fight my nervousness"
Ax himself is first and foremost a hard worker, who sits behind the piano for about four to five hours a day to maintain his seemingly effortless technique and keep his nerves under control. "If I don't study hard, I'll feel helplessly lost. I recently went to yoga class to fight my nervousness. "The older you get, the harder it is to give concerts."Beethoven's "Waldstein-Sonate
On Saturday 17 March, Emanuel Ax will bring along a handful of classics, ranging from Bach's 'Fifth Partita' and Mozart's 'Sonata KV 533' to music by Liszt and Beethoven's famous 'Waldstein Sonata'. This last work owes its nickname to Beethoven's friend and patron Count Ferdinand Ernst Gabriel von Waldstein. Together with the 'Sonata Appassionata' and the 'Hammerklavier-Sonate' the 'Waldstein-Sonate' belongs to Beethoven's most demanding compositions
