About Martin Oei
At the age of 18, Martin Oei has won many awards, including those from the Princess Christina Competition and the Young Pianist Foundation. He played in Germany, Belgium, in the Concertgebouw, during the opening of the Rijksmuseum, in Vredenburg Utrecht, at the Amsterdam Canal Festival. Paul Witteman interviewed Martin on Radio 4 in the program Pianistenuur
"The audience expects a beautiful concert and I want to offer it. I want to show how complex, versatile and moving classical music can be. The other day, I was playing in a nursing home. There are people who are demented or can no longer walk. Yet they really enjoyed the music. A demented lady, who couldn't remember anything, sang along with the music. Then all of a sudden she was clear again. "Wonderful to see what music can do."
